European Commission launches public consultation on the European Action Plan for the Social Economy
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the European Action Plan for the Social Economy, which will be adopted later this year. According to the consultation website, the social economy is the part of the economy « driven primarily by collective interests and social and environmental objectives ». The European Commission and Social Economy Europe encourage the social economy community to actively participate in this roadmap on the future of EU policies for the social economy. Proposals can also be made in any of the 24 official EU languages.

Social Economy Europe proposals for an effective European Action Plan for the Social Economy
Social Economy Europe presents its policy paper Co-designing the Action Plan for the Social Economy: for an economy that works for people and the planet. SEE’s policy paper contains 7 areas of prioritary EU action to support the growth of the social economy and 51 concrete action proposals, all them aimed at achieving 3 major objectives. The first one is to mobilise social economy’s potential to contribute to the recovery and to economic and social progress of the EU.

CIRIEC, the world reference centre for research and information on public, social and cooperative economy, invites you to the 8th International Research Conference on Social Economy, scheduled for 8-10 September 2021 in San José, Costa Rica. The event is organized by the new Costa Rican section of CIRIEC in close collaboration with CIRIEC-International and the national sections of CIRIEC. The overall theme of the Congress is ‘Social and Solidarity Economy and the Agenda 2030: inclusive and sustainable development through innovative social practices’. Researchers interested in presenting papers must send their proposal or a brief summary of their paper until 30th march 2021.

Spain: 2nd University Week of Social Economy, March 4 to 12: 127 activities, in 26 universities
Centres, institutes and other university research structures in the Social Economy in Spain and internationally are holding the 2nd University Week of the Social Economy from 4 to 12 March. A total of 127 activities, in 26 universities, have been schedules for these days, completing a very broad and varied agenda of events, with the aim of raising awareness of the intense university teaching and research activity on the sector of cooperatives, worker-owned companies, mutual societies, social enterprises and the third sector.
