 Webinaire Haïti: sortir de l’impasse La société civile face à la crise Webinaire organisé par Caroline Roose (eurodéputée Verts/ALE) et le Centre tricontinental sur la situation en Haïti et les pistes de la société civile haïtienne face à la crise. [English below] Présentation Fin mai 2021, faisant écho à la campagne internationale Stop silence Haïti, le Parlement européen a adopté une résolution d’urgence sur la situation politique, sociale et humanitaire en Haïti. Depuis, la situation s’est encore aggravée, avec la montée en puissance des bandes armées et l’assassinat du président haïtien Jovenel Moïse, le 7 juillet 2021. Haïti s’enfonce tous les jours un peu plus dans une crise multiforme. L’insécurité a explosé et s’est généralisée, plus de 40% de la population souffre de la faim, l’impunité règne, et un gouvernement, sans légitimité, opère comme si de rien n’était. Mais, la communauté internationale poursuit la même stratégie, qui a pourtant échoué. De son côté, la société civile haïtienne, qui n’a cessé de manifesté depuis 2018, a convergé, fin août 2021, autour d’un programme prônant une «transition de rupture». Ce webinaire sera l’occasion de confronter les points de vue des organisations haïtiennes, de l’Union européenne et de la société civile en Europe. La discussion portera sur les modalités de cette « transition de rupture » et la politique européenne vis-à-vis d’Haïti. At the end of May 2021, echoing the international Stop Silence Haiti campaign, the European Parliament adopted an emergency resolution on the political, social and humanitarian situation in Haiti. Since then, the situation has further worsened with the rise of armed gangs and the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse on 7 July 2021. Haiti is sinking deeper into a multi-faceted crisis every day. Insecurity has exploded and become widespread, more than 40% of the population suffers from hunger, impunity continues to prevail, and a government without legitimacy operates as if nothing had happened. Yet, the international community seems to be pursuing the same strategy that has failed in the past. For its part, Haitian civil society has been protesting since 2018 and converged, at the end of August 2021, around a programme advocating a «breakthrough transition.». This webinar will be the opportunity to have an exchange of views between Haitian civil society organisations, representatives of the European Union and civil society in Europe. The discussion will focus on the modalities of this «breakthrough transition» but also on EU’s relations with Haiti.
