Agence Française de Développement (AFD) organizes its 15th International Research Conference on Development, held on a bi-annual basis. This year, the event will take place in Paris on December 7th, 8th and 9th , 2022, and is titled ‘Strong Sustainability: How Sustainable are Net Zero Development Trajectories?’. Facing the challenge of current approaches (the ability of Nationally Determined Contributions to limit global warming to +1.5°C, the multiplication of calls to action for a better integration of biodiversity-climate issues and a just green transition…), AFD proposes to analyze and deepen on the concept of strong sustainability. From a climatic, environmental, social, economic and financial point of views, this analysis will more specifically focus on the construction and implementation processes of development trajectories that societies from the South and the North face. It will bring together senior officials, leading sustainable development experts, climate scientists, economists, philosophers and strategic thinkers from countries around the world. Discover the programme! The objective of the conference is twofold: Generating knowledge related to strong sustainability so as to better cope with policy challenges in the development field; And developing concrete and specific recommendations for the public and private sectors. The event will be held in a hybrid format, with the possibility of attending the conference either in the AFD Nelson Mandela Auditorium at the Mistral (December 7th and 8th) and the Espace du Centenaire (December 9th) or from the dedicated digital platform. It will be composed of two academic days – fed by a call for papers – and an open discussion day. I register! |
