Please join us in watching a work-in-progress theatre piece that is a result of a three-week residency exchange between French theatre school ENSATT and the Market Theatre Laboratory. This will be followed by an open discussion with the team. Thursday 1st of June 5:00pm to 6:00pm at The Market Theatre Laboratory Their Silence Left Us Nothing But Tokens is lead by MoMo Matsunyane (SA) and Leyla-Claire Rabih (FR). “What war am I a product of?” It is with this question that the conversation started between Leyla-Claire Rabih and MoMo Matsunyane about the work they would be doing together at the Market Theatre Laboratory in Johannesburg, and then at ENSATT in Lyon. Within this collaborative effort, this starting point opened the discussion for further questions about human beings and their relationships to the conflicts and wars that have crossed their paths. From the most intimate family conflicts to apartheid and its freedom fighters, this theme will allow us to embrace topics such as diversity of origins and to uncover places that can be inhabited by ghosts and ancestors. Students from ENSATT and Market Lab will explore this on stage together. Five actors-actresses and four designers (sound, light, costumes & set design) from the 82nd graduating class of ENSATT and six actors-actresses from Market Lab are taking part in this project. With the support of the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) RSVP here before 31st May |
