| Call for experiences, best practices and scalable solutions for the integration of biodiversity into agriculture |
| Dear Colleagues, We would like to remind you about the ongoing call for submissions « Call for experiences, best practices and scalable solutions for the integration of biodiversity into agriculture« , which was requested by the FAO’s Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment. Ms Julie Bélanger, who is a co-facilitator of this call and a natural resources officer (biodiversity) in FAO, invites you to take an active role in sharing your views and experiences on the integrated biodiversity in agriculture by using the submission template andthe Zero draft recommendations as a reference. We thank those participants who has already contributed to this call with the experiences fromCameroon, Chad, Egypt, Ghana, Iran, Kenya, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Syrian Arab Republic, Togo, UK, and Zimbabwe. The Call is available in English, Españoland Français, and it is open until 6 March 2024. |
| English The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted in December 2022 sets the course for global biodiversity action over the next six years and beyond. It includes 23 targets to achieve by 2030, several of which specifically concern the agricultural sector. Its implementation will require the involvement of stakeholders in the agricultural sector. This challenge will be the subject of the International Symposium « Agriculture, Biodiversity and Food Security: From Commitments to Actions » to be held in Canada, from April 30 to May 2, 2024. The Symposium will discuss technical recommendations to facilitate the agricultural sector’s commitment to achieving sector-relevant targets to better integrate biodiversity into agriculture. Through this call for submissions, the steering committee of the Symposium and its co-chairs are inviting stakeholders to submit contributions on experiences and best practices, and concrete, scalable solutions concerning biodiversity and agriculture, in order to inform the Symposium and facilitate the development of recommendations. Español Convocatorias para la presentación de temas: Convocatoria de experiencias, mejores prácticas y soluciones ampliables para la integración de la biodiversidad en la agricultura El Marco Mundial de Biodiversidad de Kunming-Montreal, adoptado en diciembre de 2022, marca el rumbo de la acción mundial en materia de biodiversidad para los próximos seis años y en adelante. Incluye 23 metas a alcanzar para 2030, varias de las cuales atañen de manera específica al sector agrícola. Su aplicación requerirá la participación de las partes interesadas del sector agrario. Este desafío será abordado en el Simposio internacional “Agricultura, biodiversidad y seguridad alimentaria: de los compromisos a la acción”, que se celebrará en Canadá del 30 de abril al 2 de mayo de 2024. El Simposio debatirá recomendaciones técnicas para facilitar el compromiso del sector agrícola con la consecución de objetivos relevantes para el sector para integrar mejor la biodiversidad en la agricultura. A través de esta convocatoria de propuestas, el comité directivo del Simposio y sus copresidentes invitan a las partes interesadas a presentar contribuciones sobre experiencias y mejores prácticas, así como soluciones concretas y ampliables en materia de biodiversidad y agricultura, con el fin de fundamentar el Simposio y facilitar la elaboración de recomendaciones. Français Appels à contributions: Appel à expériences, bonnes pratiques et solutions évolutives pour l’intégration de la biodiversité dans l’agriculture Le Cadre mondial de la biodiversité de Kunming-Montréal adopté en décembre 2022pose les jalons de l’action mondiale en faveur de la biodiversité au cours des six prochaines années et au-delà. Il comprend 23 cibles pour 2030 dont plusieurs concernent spécifiquement le secteur agricole. Sa mise en œuvre nécessitera l’implication des parties prenantes du secteur agricole. Le défi de cette mise en œuvre sera le sujet du Colloque international « Agriculture, biodiversité et sécurité alimentaire : des engagements aux actions », qui se tiendra à Canada, du 30 avril au 2 mai 2024. Le colloque discutera les recommandations techniques visant à faciliter l’engagement du secteur agricole afin d’atteindre les cibles du Cadre mondial pertinentes pour l’agriculture, afin de mieux intégrer la biodiversité dans l’agriculture.
