EconomiX, CNRS-university Paris Nanterre, Nanterre (Paris area)
EconomiX, a CNRS research institute, invites applications of candidates with proven research experience in the field of industrial and regional economics and specialization in relevant empirical, econometric and/or modelling tools.
Applicants are expected to contribute to a research project entitled “Variation in employment and regional relationships” funded by two French Governmental Organizations (Commissariat Général à l’Egalité des Territoires and Institut CDC pour la Recherche) and coordinated by Nadine Levratto. This research seeks to analyze the determinants of job creation or destruction taking into considerations the local characteristics as well as the economic relationships between metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. Using a large set of data sources making it possible to precisely characterize different French areas, the project seeks to explore:
i) the characteristics of the 22 French metropolitan areas,
ii) the relationships between job creation or destruction between the core of the metropolitan areas and the secondary municipalities located inside and outside the institutional perimeter of the metropolitan areas
iii) the complementarity between spatial dependence and economic dependence.
The candidates should have strong skills in applied micro-economics including spatial analysis and microeconometrics (using Stata and R) and management of large data sets. She/he should be able to conduct high-level research to publish in international peer-reviewed journals. She/he should be fluent in English and French.
Application
The position is for two six-month periods. Remuneration is of 2,000 euros, in accordance with French public tariff scheme. We will begin considering candidates immediately and will continue until the position is filled (thus there is no explicit application deadline).
