Meet our True Fashion – Try On Green Mentees

A program supported by the Franco-German Cultural Fund.

Our collaboration with the Goethe-Institut South Africa to support aspiring fashion designers about sustainable fashion through the True Fashion – Try On Green mentorship program was a resounding success.

The five mentees: Burton Miles, Khumo Morejele, Xola Makoba, Zaza Hlalethwa and Zovuyo Mputa were chosen to work closely with experts from South Africa, France and Germany, who taught them valuable information on the fundamentals of sustainable fashion. Three of our mentors, Akomolafe, Mdingi and Pham led workshops in Johannesburg with artist Lulama Wolf. We continued these dialogues in Cape Town with Emilie Gambade (Daily Maverick), Jackie May (Twyg), Sindiso Khumalo (joint LVMH Prize winner 2020) and Erica De Greef (Co-Director at The African Fashion Research Institute- AFRI).

Join us over the next few weeks as we profile each of the sustainable designers and their work on our social media pages.

In the meantime, you are invited to meet the mentees and see what they got up to during the workshop in this video: youtu.be/5VkjRipxDw4
