| The Institute for Human Development (IHD), New Delhi and Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Florida, USA are organizing the Second Edition of the International Conference on « Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Development in Global South: International Experiences and Future Strategies” during 10-12 August 2023 in New Delhi. The First edition of this Conference organized in 2015 was successful in deliberating policy and academ! ic issues relevant for sustainable and inclusive urban development. The second edition continues this effort and aims to bring together scholars and experts to delve on the latest global urban developments, evidence and perspectives. It will provide an opportunity for sharing regional urban experiences and case studies of projects to evolve agenda for inclusive urbanization, concurrent with the efforts for Sustainable Development Goals (in particular, Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable). THEMES OF THE CONFERENCE International experiences of urbanization Urban governance and planning Creating decent employment and green jobs Urban spaces and gender equality Social and economic inclusion; urban poverty,slums Affordable housing and rental housing Strengthening rural-urban linkages Cities, small and medium towns Migration and urbanization Climate change, risks and resilience Climate finance and green urban development Public safety and security Technology and innovation Trunk infrastructure (water and waste management) Planning for just cities Multispecies cohabitation in cities Besides these, papers on other themes relevant to the Conference are welcome. |
PAPER CONTRIBUTIONS |
| Papers are invited from scholars and experts from both Global South and North. An extended abstract in about 500-700 words containing research objectives, data and methodology and key Findings should be submitted online on the Conference portal by 15 May 2023. Communication about acceptance of abstracts will be sent by 25 May 2023. Full papers of accepted abstracts are to be submitted by 25 July 2023. | PANEL PROPOSALS Panel proposals are also invited from scholars and institutions. Each panel proposal should contain a concept note, title, authors and abstracts (500-700 words) of the papers along with short bios (100-150 words) of the panelists. Concessions: • 50% concession is available on participation charges for Ph.D. students. Those paying concessional charges will be provided budget accommodation. • Exemption of charges for Conference participation will be considered for a few young scholars (below 40 years) from Global South, subject to availability of funds. |
