Once again we are able to offer an internship at the EADI secretariat, and we encourage as many scientists as possible from our community to respond to the International Science Council’s call for a new roster of experts. Today’s blog post sheds a critical light on SDG critique, and many of our publication picks are around social policy. From our Blog You don’t like the SDGs? Munro argues that, while the SDGs might be imperfect and worthy of critique, the available alternatives are much worse, « unless you like patriarchy, environmental destruction and national security states ». He draws his analysis on the detailed reading of 170 national development plans published since 2016 by the governments of over 140 countries and territories and concludes that « the alternative to the SDGs in many countries is (…) a much more regressive agenda ».
