In our « Share Your Decolonising Story » project, we’ve got not only the third blog post out, but also the first two podcasts. Apart from that, we’ve published two more blog posts and share the usual picks and opportunities from our community. The authors argue that « the language of GSP continues to be entrenched in colonial tropes that have been strategically downplayed in other EU policy areas », which is explained with seven concrete examples. Read more

New EADI Working Group: Climate Change and HealthOnce again we are very happy to announce the constitution of a new Working Group! The Climate Change and Health Nexus WG was set up to tackle the pressing issue of the health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, particularly in the Global South, with a specific focus on Asia, which faces unique challenges related to climate-induced health risks. Read more See all EADI Working Groups

Call for Panels: NorDev25 ConferenceThe NorDev25 Conference in which we are partner, will take place in Ås, Norway, on 24-26 September 2025, with the title « Solidarity, social justice and sustainability: Nurturing academic-civic solidarity, fostering social justice, and cultivating collaborations in an era of uncertainty ». The call for panel, roundtable and other side-event proposals is open until 24 January 2025. The call for abstracts will be announced shortly thereafter. Read more

Highlight: Civic Power in Just TransitionsAs the global shift towards a low-carbon economy accelerates, demand for critical minerals is projected to soar, intensifying pressures on supply chains and local environments. However, mining activities face significant civil resistance worldwide. This paper by the Institute of Development Studies argues that a just, sustainable, and democratic transition requires moving beyond traditional Corporate Social Responsibility approaches and recent proposals for public participation in Environmental Impact Assessments. Instead, it demands deeper democratisation of investment decisions through inclusive governance frameworks that can effectively navigate the complexities of mineral resource extraction. Read more
