International Women’s Rights Day AFD & FID Support Innovative Approaches to Promote Women’s Empowerment March 8, a day of action and mobilization, is providing an opportunity to reaffirm the State’s commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s rights. Here are two innovative initiatives supported by AFD in this regard: In India, Using Art & Artistic Expression to Raise Police Awareness of Violence against Women   With support from the Innovation Fund for Development (FID), DAI Research & Advisory is implementing a gender awareness program for 4,000 police officers in India. Applied theater and expressive arts aim to encourage police officers to explore their biases in order to promote a victim-centered approach to violence.

Clean & Efficient Cooking Insights from Two New AFD & FID Experiments Drawing from findings of two experimental impact assessments conducted in Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo, this publication by the French Development Agency (AFD) Publishing provides a summary of the drivers and barriers identified for the adoption and sustainable use of clean and efficient cooking solutions. These solutions benefit both the environment and the women who are often responsible for cooking fires and suffer from their harmful effects.
