The Tattarillo Award is an international BA, MS, and PhD Thesis award organized by EWB Florence in cooperation with the « Environmental Councilor of the Municipality of Florence » on the theme of appropriate Technology and « South of the World ».
Main objective of the Tattarillo Award is to encourage technology students and the scientific community to research themes related to appropriate technologies in any « South-of-the-World » contexts, the realities where a group of individuals have no access to resources for their own realization within the social context of belonging.

HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETION
Bachelor, MS, and PhD thesis can be submitted to the award if they have been defended between 1st of January 2010 and the submission closing date of the award. The thesis may have been defended in any University of the World. The closing date is the 31st of January 2013. THE PRIZE
The Tattarillo awards 2013 will assign 3 prizes of Euro 1.000 each.
The jury will chose the best three theses evaluating, among the others: the scientific value, the respect of local traditions, the local people inclusion in the decisional processes, the multidisciplinary approach and the sustainability of the proposed solutions.
THE EVALUATION
The admitted thesis will be evaluated by a commission composed of university professors, international cooperation experts and member of Engineering Without Borders – Florence. The evaluation criteria will consider EWB approach to international cooperation which has grown thanks to the experience of the previous editions of this award.
PROCEEDINGS AND PUBLICATIONS
The proceedings will collect the technical reports of all the admitted theses and will be made available on Research Webshelf, www.researchwebshelf.com.
