Becas en Nueva York – cierra el 31 de mayo – (Fellowships)

Tenemos el agrado recordarle que hasta el 31 de mayo de 2013 se encuentra abierta la recepción de solicitudes para aplicar a la edición 2013-2014 de la Beca Presidente Néstor Kirchner (PNK).
Esta Beca tiene un perfil innovador único en la región, orientado a la formación y promoción de jóvenes líderes de América del Sur con experiencia tanto en el campo académico como en el servicio público. Está inspirada en el legado y los logros que ha dejado el ex-presidente Néstor Kirchner durante su gestión como primer mandatario de la República Argentina (2003-2007), sumados a la importante tarea que desempeñó como primer Secretario General de la UNASUR (2010). La Beca PNK está organizada conjuntamente por The New School University de Nueva York a través de su  Observatorio Latino Americano (OLA), y la Universidad Nacional de San Martí­n, de Buenos Aires, Argentina.

La Beca

Consiste en una estadía de dos semanas en The New School University, durante las cuales el/la becario/a presentará sus trabajos ante estudiantes y académicos de Nueva York, se entrevistará con líderes políticos y sociales, y realizará distintas actividades, como visitas a organismos gubernamentales locales y multinacionales, además de museos y bibliotecas universitarias y públicas.

Perfil de los aspirantes

Los aspirantes deben estar en las primeras etapas de sus carreras en ambos de los dos siguientes campos:

1.En el campo académico, donde deben haber completado un título de postgrado (máster o doctorado) en los últimos 15 años o estar actualmente realizando una carrera de postgrado.
2.En el campo político/sociedad civil, donde deben realizar o haber realizado actividades de servicio público en organismos del Estado nacional, provincial o municipal, o en asociaciones u organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONG). En este campo, deberán tener una experiencia comprobable de un mínimo de cuatro años y un máximo de 15 años.

Se requiere dominio del idioma inglés.
Áreas de investigación relacionadas a América del Sur

Los aspirantes deben estar trabajando en una o más de las siguientes áreas: 1. Relaciones económicas internacionales; 2. Democracia y medios de comunicación; 3. Pobreza, modelos económicos y políticas sociales; 4. Rol del Estado; 5. Cooperación e integración regional; 6. Inclusión y justicia social; 7. Democracia, igualdad y derechos humanos; 8. Promoción de la educación y la cultura política; 9. Administración económica nacional; 10. Ciudades, diseño y desarrollo social; 11. Ambiente y desarrollo sustentable; 12. Estado de derecho.

Otorgamiento de tres becas:

1.La Beca 1 se entregará a un/a ciudadano/a argentino/a, y su estadía se desarrollará del 3 al 16 de noviembre de 2013.
2.La Beca 2 se entregará a un/a ciudadano/a de un país sudamericano, excluyendo Argentina, y su estadía se desarrollará del 23 de febrero al 8 de marzo de 2014.
3.La Beca 3 se entregará a un/a ciudadano/a de cualquiera de los países de Sudamérica, incluyendo Argentina, y su estadía se desarrollará del 23 de febrero al 8 de marzo de 2014.

La fecha límite para la recepción de postulaciones es el 31 de mayo de 2013 a las 17:00hs hora Buenos Aires, o 5:00pm hora Nueva York.

We are pleased to remind you that the reception of applications to the edition 2013-2014 of the President Néstor Kirchner Fellowship (PNK) is open up to May 31, 2013.
This Fellowship is focused on training and supporting young leaders in South America with academic interest and vocation to public service, who are in the initial stages of their professional development. The Fellowship has been inspired by the recognition of the legacy and achievements of the late President of Argentina Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007), and his work as the first Secretary General of UNASUR (2010). The PNK Fellowship is organized by  The New School University through its  Observatory on Latin America(OLA) in New York, together with the Universidad Nacional de San Martí­n in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Fellowship
The Fellowship consists of a two-week stay at The New School University in New York, during which the Fellow will present his/her work to students and faculty of The New School, will meet with political and civil society leaders, and will take part in various other activities such as visits to local government offices and multinational organizations, as well as tour museums, and public and university libraries.

This call for applications will award three fellowships:
1.Fellowship 1 will be awarded to an Argentine citizen, and will take place November 3-16, 2013.
2.Fellowship 2 will be awarded to citizens from another country of South America, excluding Argentina, and will take place February 23-March 8, 2014.
3.Fellowship 3 will be awarded to citizens from any country of South America, including Argentina, and will take place February 23-March 8, 2014.

Applicants’ profile
Applicants must be in the early stages of their careers which must include activities in both of the following fields:

1.In the academic field they must have either completed a postgraduate degree (master or doctorate) within the past fifteen years or are currently working towards a postgraduate degree;
2.In the political/civil society field, they must be either currently working or have previously worked in public service organizations of the state at the national, provincial, or municipal levels, or in a registered non-governmental association or organizations (NGOs). In this field, applicants must have verifiable experience of a minimum of 4 years and maximum of 15 years.

Applicants are required to have English proficiency.
Substantive research areas related to South America

Eligible applicants should be working in one or more of the following fields:

1. International Economic Relations; 2. Democracy and Media; 3. Poverty, Economic Models and Social Policy; 4. Role of the State; 5. Regional Cooperation and Integration; 6. Inequality and Social Justice; 7. Democracy, Equality and Human Rights; 8. Promotion of Democratic Culture and Education; 9. National Economic Management; 10. Cities, Design, and Social Development; 11. Environment and Sustainable Development; 12. Rule of Law.

The deadline to submit the application is May 31, 2013, 5:00pm New York time or 17:00hs Buenos Aires time.
