A Turkish network in Africa: the Gülen movement

This conference aims to present and analyse the expansion of a transnational network in the 21st century: the Turkish educational network of Fethullah Gülen. The movement under study, inspired by former Turkish Imam and influential intellectual Fethullah Gülen, is today a powerful movement in the field of education, economics and religion in Turkey and the rest of the world. Over the past fifteen years or so, this movement turned to Sub-Saharan Africa. In this seminar, we will proceed with an analysis of the transnational expansion of the movement and will then analyse the relocation of its action in the African context.
