Aldea Intercultural / Intercultural Village in Veracruz, Mexico, June 16th -27th

Aldea Intercultural 2014, the “Intercultural Village”, is a two-week summer program, June 16th -27th, that will enable participants to have a truly enriching cross-cultural experience. They will participate in a series of courses and workshop on Spanish, Nahuatl (a local indigenous language), traditional medicine, Olmec Cosmology, regional culture, Son Jarocho (the folk music of Veracruz), local traditional gastronomy, and handicrafts.

This program represents a concrete example of UVI´s commitment to preserve and promote the indigenous cultures of Veracruz, facilitate interaction and dialogue among people from diverse backgrounds, and contribute to the development of marginalized communities.

It will take place at UVI´s Las Selvas campus, located within the municipality of Mecayapan in the southeastern part of the state. The campus has modern facilities and equipment with internet access. There are hotels and cottages for rent nearby. The area has an efficient transportation network as well.

Sean tan amables de remitir la siguiente información sobre la Aldea Intercultural 2014, un programa sobre educación intercultural de la Universidad Veracruzana Intercultural (UVI), a las Oficinas de Asuntos Internacionales, Oficinas de Movilidad, Departamentos de Estudios Latinoamericanos, profesores, investigadores y estudiantes interesados en culturas indígenas y desarrollo comunitario; así como a cualquier otra persona o entidad interesada.

La Aldea Intercultural es un programa de verano de dos semanas, el cual se llevará a cabo del 16 al 27 de junio, en donde los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de vivir una experiencia intercultural enriquecedora. Participarán en una serie de cursos o talleres, tales como: Español, Náhualt (lengua indígena), Medicina Tradicional, Cosmología Olmeca, Son Jarocho (música tradicional de Veracruz), Gastronomía Típica y Artesanías.

Este programa representa un claro ejemplo del compromiso de la UVI de preservar y hacer visibles las culturas indígenas de Veracruz, facilita la interacción y el diálogo entre personas de distinto origen y contribuye al desarrollo de comunidades marginadas.

La Aldea Intercultural se llevará a cabo en la Sede Regional las Selvas de la UVI, ubicada en la localidad de Huazuntlán, Municipio de Mecayapan. La Sede las Selvas cuenta con instalaciones modernas y equipadas, con acceso a Internet. Cerca de la sede hay hoteles y cabañas, además de que el transporte local es muy eficiente.
